Teddy Hall's post Harvest overview
published on:

On the 10th of March I reported: Most grapes in by now. The grapes are healthy with bunches and grapes slightly smaller than average, leading to a bit smaller crop. Rain stayed away during harvesting days making it an easy harvest.

The Chenin blanc quality is very good and the reds show sufficient colour at this stage.

Now that harvest is done and dusted - 4th May 2011 - Harvest overview:

The past winter was drier than normal in Stellenbosch. October we had a bit more rain but not sufficient enough to bail us out completely. The few showers in summer were scattered, not helping ground moisture much. The summer was also hot and dry. The red wines are more concentrated and have good colour because of mostly smaller berries. All cultivars came in very healthy, too healthy, because it stopped me from making Noble Late Harvest wine. The Chenin seem to have great depth and might be exceptional (but I say that every year).

Teddy Hall Chenin blanc Reserve 2009 and the Teddy Hall Blanc de blancs MCC 2005 was chosen as Top 100 SA Wines 2011.

Teddy Hall Blanc de blancs MCC 2005 was the Gold Medal and Trophy Winner in the sparkling wine category at the Classic Wine Trophy Show 2011.
